We're having a heatwave...

It's a heatwave - officially.  Today Staffordshire got a Level Three status on the Heat-Health Watch alert from the The Met Office.
Temperatures are in the mid 20s and up.

And I can confirm that.  It's hot.

Umbrellas are up

After the snow, the deluge... to paraphrase a saying.
Yup, the temperatures are now rising, the rain falling and thus the snow slides away. But, the thaw will mean flooding in some parts.

I think we are all a bit sick of the current unpredictable weather.

Bleak midwinter

Foggy, misty day today.  I know that we're over halfway through the year (December 21st being the shortest day), and at least we can look forward now, but it still feels bleak when the light starts to fade at half-two or three...

Rain rain rain

Staffordshire got flooded today; and there were estimates that today saw what would usually be considered a month's worth of rain!
Thus there was no play on these tennis courts, as there hasn't been for every other day for the last six weeks.

Sheep sleep in heat

It was hot today (well, hot for England!) - 28 degrees here in mid-Staffordshire.
What strangely unpredictable weather we have nowadays; I was lighting fires just to keep warm last week.

But the heat is welcome. No wonder these sheep sought shade.

Lamb in the rain

It’s been rain, rain, rain for the last few days.
The weather since the beginning of the year has been quite daft – alternating hot summer-like weather, freezing cold and mist… and now rain!  All this in the midst of a semi-official drought here in Staffordshire. As I say – daft weather patterns.

What this poor new lamb thinks of it all I can’t say.
I saw this little chap today, pressing himself up against this telegraph pole. It didn’t move.  I have no idea why it was doing this.

Hiding rainbow

The weather has been even more unpredictable than ever these last few weeks. The warming sunny days have been broken up by grey gusts of showers, and even (last week) hail! However, the rain showers aren't enough (I'm told) to even nearly make up for the previous lengthy dry months.

The showers occasionally produce a cloudy rainbow, which is always something special, even though this one hid itself behind an electricity pylon.

It makes a nice, odd photo though.
