Canal boat rises
The sight of a narrowboat slowly rising into view from down deep in a lock – it’s something that always makes me laugh, especially if I’m caught by a surprise.
Thats a very narrow lock, not seen one quite so narrow hereabouts along my bit of the Leeds - Liverpool. I went up through the 5 rise at Bingley on a boat a few weeks back.
I didn't realise it was such a narrow lock - but now you point it out, I see it is! This canal lock is the one near to the Sandon Hall estate on the Trent & Mersey Canal.
My goodness! That boat doesn't look like it is even 5 feet wide! That is amusing and I have never seen this. Thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteI always have a smile too at these lock sights- which canal is this then?
